Love is in the air. With Valentine’s Day coming up I wanted to create a dessert table that both my son and daughter would love, but Valentine’s colors tend to be so girly-centric that I decided to shift to a more boy focused party that would give the guys their share of the love.
I wanted this dessert table to feel light and airy so I opted to base the background on a pale blue color with clouds intermixed. The two-tiered fondant covered cake contained clouds also and sported directional arrow shapes and a little “paper” airplane made out of modeling chocolate. The buttercream covered cake was decorated with modeling chocolate hearts and a paper banner that read “is in the air” to coordinate with the “LOVE” on the fondant cake
I added cupcakes with swirls of sky blue buttercream and clouds and airplanes to carry on the theme. There were also paper boxes filled with pretzels (in-flight snacks) which had tiny paper airplanes on them.
Buttery sugar cookies were iced and covered with thin sheets of colored modeling chocolate for some added love.
Free form white chocolate lollipops with modeling chocolate hearts were a tasty treat.
To round out the sweets, vanilla whoopie pies filled with vanilla and espresso buttercream were stacked in threes and topped with little flags and mini cupcakes were iced with espresso buttercream with tiny navy hearts on top. I hope you enjoy all the sweet love on this Valentine’s Day table!
